Hi,
I had a phone interview with RIM for a co-op position yesterday. It was for the operating system group.
They just asked me about my projects in operating system. I was able to answer all of their questions about the file system project but for the multi threading scheduler project i could not answer some of the questions. These projects, done in C++, were part of a course that I had last semester.
Do you have any idea how long they take to reply. I know someone who gave a phone interview on friday and got a call by tuesday.

Hi There,
I currently applied for the Account Operations Representative position (I know not as technical) but I had my phone interview today and was wondering if anyone else applied for similar customer service postions and what was asked during the in person interview? I lost my job due to bankruptcy and the company I worked for was quite small. I still have yet to wait to see if I even made it that far, but was looking for feedback.

They didn’t really ask me to write byte code. It was just the interviewers’ joke. Unless you are applying to join their JVM team, I think it is very unlikely that you need to write byte code during the interview. BTW, I was told that BlackBerry has its own JVM, and the applications (e.g. web browser, calendar, etc) are written in Java and run on top of the JVM.

Hi Haobin, I have an interview coming up at RIM too also Java, thanks for writing this entry. You sound like you were very calm and cool during the interview – my problem with all interviews, technical or otherwise is that I get too nervous and mess up. If you have any other things you can share, please do. The one thing that surprised me is they wanted you to write in bytecode! I have never had to do that.
